Historians possess a number of tantalizing clues that seem to indicate, both the presence of factional politics in Ancient Chinese city-states, but the intrusion of domestic politics into the decision making process for war itself.  Meanwhile, solid sources for the Central-Asian oasis city-states of the Tarim Basin are, regrettably, elusive.
